ALONSO ALVAREZ DE PINEDA &
BLAS MARIA DE LA GARZA FALCON

 

On Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. The Friends of Captains
Alvarez Pineda and De La Garza Falcón will meet at
“Plaza de Pineda” located at the intersection of Laredo Street and César Chávez Memorial Parkway ( Agnes Street ) to commemorate the Naming of Corpus Christi Bay in 1519.

 

Captain Alonso Alvarez de Pineda is credited with having named Corpus Christi Bay on June 24, 1519.

 

The Public is invited to come celebrate at 7:00 pm and listen to presentations associated with the History of Captain De Pineda. Honorable Henry Garrett, Mayor of Corpus Christi , the Consul General of Spain in Houston,  Ambassador Miguel Angel Fernández de Mazarambroz and other guest speakers. In addition The Veterans Band of Corpus Christi will participate.

 

After the presentations a Reception with Tapas and Refreshments
will be held at 8:00 p.m.
